Gili

Hi Iam @ my last station before I have to head back. Gili Islands is overcrowded overpriced but a great place with nice beach and good fun underwater. I LOVE IT

Bali I am Back

Nach einem angenehmen 19 h bustrip bin ich mittlerweile in bali der tourihochburg schlecht hin. Nach 2 Tagen am Strand geht es morgen dann weiter nach Gili Island (welche genau weiss ich noch nicht). Ich habe keine Ahnung ob die am Netz sind, von daher gibt es die naechsten Bilder wohl erst naechste Woche.

After a comfy 19h busride I am back in Bali the tourist stronghold. After 2 days @ the beach I travel on Gili Island (which one I am not sure yet). I have no idea if there is internet on Gili sopictures probably next week.

Solo in Solo

Bin mittlerweile in Surakarta auch Solo genannt und habe bisher keine anderen Touris endeckt.  Jogja ist zwar toll zum shopppen aber hier lernt man alle paar stunden nen Einheimischen kennen (der einem nix andrehen will).Bin mit dem Zug rueber der brechend voll war, mir gegenueber sas ein Iman der aber das Interesse an mir verloren hat als ich sagte ich sei Italiener, puh Schwein gehabt. In Solo gibt es den Palast des Kaisers von Surakarta der sich dafuer bezahlen laesst sich aus der Politik heraus zu halten. Hier gibt es auch die beruehmten Krisse (traditionelles java schwert) hab auch kurz ueberlegt eines zu kaufen aber wie bekomme ich den staubfaenger heim????




 Meanwhile I am in Sukkarta also known as Solo. Untill now I am the onlu tourist I ve seen. Jogja is the better place for shopping but in Solo its very easy to get in contact with locals. i took the train to Solo that was incredible full. In Solo is the Palace of the imperator of Surakara who refrain from politics for payment. Here is also the place where the famous Kriss are made (traditional javanese sword). I thought to buy one but how to bring them home.

Hab auch den ersten bekloppten Becak (Fahrradtaxi) fahrer (Abb. kann abweichen) erwischt der in 10 Minuten 2 leute (darunter nen bullen) und x staende gerammt hat.
 Also had a ride with a first lunatic becak driver (picture may differ). he crashed into several market stalls and  2 people (one a police man)

War hier auch bei 2 weiteren hinduistischen Tempel die sich in den umgebenden Highlands befinden. Candi Sukh sieht irgendwie Suedamerikanisch angehaucht und ist in seinem Stil wohl einzigartig in Java.

Gave a visit to 2 hinduisitc temple ruins in the surrounding highlands. Candi Sukh has a strong south american touch and the style is uniqiue in Java.






Der andere ist klar balinesisch hatte aber die bessere Aussicht.
The other is in a clear balinese style but had the better view.

Nachtrag Yogya

Prambanan

und Borobodur sind beides Tempelanlagen ausserhalb Yogyas ca. 20 und 50km entfernt. Hab beide mit lokalen Bussen erreicht, war interssanter als ein TouriBus (Kaffeefahrt) der das 10fache kostet, nur das Umsteigen hab ich noch nicht ganz raus.








Prambanan ist hinduistisch, sehr schoen aber leider fast vollstaendig unter Rekonstruktion so das nur wenig zu sehen ist. Der zweite ist Buddah gewidmet und wurde von seiner Fangemeinde verbuddelt damit ihn die Hindus die gerade einen Krieg gegen die Buds gewonnen haben nicht schaenden. Das Schaenden haben dann nach seiner Wiederendeckung erst die Niederlaender dann ein paar Fundamentalisten aber zu grossem Teil Touris und Sammler uebernommen. Die Geasamtanlage soll wohl so gross sein wie Angkor ist aber weit verstreut und kann meiner Meinug nach nicht mit angkor mithalten. Meine naechste Station ist dann Solo wo der Koenig von Indonesien residiert

Prambanan and Borobodur are both temple areas are outside of Yogya (around 20 and 50km away) Tokk the local bus wich was big fun and much cheeper then going by the much more expensive touristbus. The bus changes were the biggest fun-trouble. Prambanan is a hinduisitc temple really great but unfortunately almost completely under reconstruction so there was not much to see. Borobodur is a buddist one and was hidden under soil after the buddist empire lost a war against the hindus to provide defilement. This was later done by the Dutch, fanatics and tourists and art collectors. The whole area should be as big as Angkor but is more scattered (and after my opinion is only half as impressive as Angkor).
My next station will be Solo, the home of Indonesias King.

Sumatra Adieu, Ahoi Java

Trotz der perfekten Gelassenheit  habe ich Sumatra verlassen und bin nach nur 16h Boot, Faehre, ein paar Bussen, 2 Fliegern und noch ein paar Bussen mittlerweile in Yogjakarta. Der Kulturhauptstadt Javas (nach dem Lonelyplanet). Die Staft eignet sich glaube ich perfekt zum Shoppen be der Anzahl an Geschaeften.
Die Leute sind absolut freundlich und man kommt nicht drum herum sich hier wohl zu fuehlen.

Aber es gibt hier auch noch einen regierenden Sultan der es einem erlaubt seinen Harem Swimmingpool zu begutachten.

I left Sumatra and the perfect calmness of Danu Toba. After 16hours in a boat, busses, 2 plains and more busses i finally arived in Yogjakarta (cultural capital says the Lonelyplanet). But after my first impression the city is perfect for shopping. The people in Yogjakarata are very friendly and have good vibrations.

But the city has also a Sultan that is still in power and who allows the tourist to visit his Harem a swinger-swimmingpool.

Tuk Tuk

Bin mittlerweile in Tuk Tuk am Tobasee (der groesste See Suedasiens und eigentlich der vollgelaufen Krater eines riesigen Exvulkans) in Sumatra. Die ganze Ecke hat erstaunlich Aehnlichkeit mit dem Bodensee.

Die Ecke passt auch sonst nicht wirklich in mein Bild von Asien, denn hier gibt es keine Autos (und damit auch kein Smog), keinen Markt niemand der rumlaueft und einem etwas andrehen will und die einzige Fortbewgungsmoeglichkeit ist sich ein vorbeifahrendes Boot heranzuwinken.

Die Leute hier gehoeren zu dem Volk der Batak und waren mal Animisten

sind aber mittlerweile Christen und damit eine Minderheit in Indonesien. Fuer mich ein kleiner Kulturschock nachdem ultrakonservativen Norden von Sumatra.

I am in TukTuk @ Lake Toba (biggest lake in south asia and the crater of a giant ex vulcano). It loks a little bit like lake Konstanz here, and because of missing cars (and smog) no markets no sellers who follow you I am not so sure if I am still in Asia). The only way to get around is by catching a passing boat on the lake. The people here are called Batak and have benn animist before they become christian, one of indonesians many minorities. For me a little culture shock after beeing in the very conservative north of Sumatra

Pulau Weh

Hello together. After a  jetlagged night in Banda Aceh (nice mosque but thats it)

I finally made it up to PulauWeh. This is the most northern point in Sumatra. I stay here with LumbaLumba for diving. The weather is not the best its raining every day but this doesnt matters to much under water. Oh did i mention that i saw my first shark 8). It is really a great dive site (as far as i can tell) and a good place to be lazy.
